Mr. Babatunde Paul Ruwase is the Principal Partner of PB Ruwase & Co (Chartered Accountants) and Chairman of Ruleos Ventures Limited. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN). He was born on 2nd August 1953 in Lagos Island to the Family of Pastor Rufus Olatunji Ruwase and Mrs. Grace Kate Ruwase.
Very early in life, he learnt about dignity of labour and exhibited leadership traits and qualities, which made him stand out among his contemporaries. As an astute and accomplished Accountant, he maintained a high standard of professionalism throughout his career.
He had his Primary Education at Holy Cross Catholic School Lagos (1959-1966), Secondary Education at United Christian Secondary Commercial College Apapa, Lagos (1967-1971) and thereafter proceeded to study Accountancy at the Yaba College of Technology, Lagos (1972 – 1975) after which he qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1981. He started his professional career as an Accounts Clerk with the Nigerian National Shipping Line in 1972 and had his first professional office experience at Akintola Williams and Co. (Chartered Accountants) in 1974 as an Audit Trainee. With his part qualification (ACCA Section 3) he joined Nigerian Catering Company Limited as an Accountant in 1976, from where he moved to Nigerian Diving Services Limited as an Accountant.
Not willing to rest on his oars, he aspired for greatness and joined one of the leading Accounting firms in Nigeria, D.O Dafinone and Co. (Chartered Accountants) as an Audit Semi-Senior and rose to the position of Audit Supervisor between February 1978 and August 1984. He also worked briefly at the University of Lagos as a Deputy Chief Accountant before joining Panalpina World Transport (Nigeria) Limited as Chief Accountant in January 1986. After some years of hard-work and meritorious display of excellence, he was later promoted to the position of an Executive Director in March 1998. He occupied this position till he retired from the company in December 2008.
Though retired, but not tired, he started his own firm, PB Ruwase and Co. (Chartered Accountants) in 2009 and has since been its Principal Partner, the position he holds till date.
Despite his very busy schedule, Mr. Babatunde Paul Ruwase has always supported worthy causes and has contributed his quota to the development of the Nigerian economy and humanity at large. He was before now, the Deputy President of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI); President, Logistics Society of Nigeria; President, Nigerian International Air Couriers Association of Nigeria.
The investiture of Mr. Babatunde Paul Ruwase today, as President of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), the Premier Chamber and leading voice of the Organised Private Sector in Nigeria, is in recognition of his contribution and steadfastness in the promotion of the ideals of the Chamber movement, in its public policy advocacy and protection of the interests of the Nigerian business community.
He is happily married with children.
